| Abstract | The management of hazardous and toxic waste (B3 waste) is a crucial aspect of maintaining occupational health and safety (OHS) within a hospital environment. Substandard B3 waste management can lead to risks such as workplace accidents, disease transmission, and environmental pollution. Consequently, every hospital is required to implement a B3 waste management system that complies with applicable procedures and regulations. This study aims to evaluate B3 waste management practices in relation to OHS standards at Nurul Hasanah Hospital. This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with an observational approach. The sample consisted of 40 respondents—staff members involved in B3 waste management at the hospital. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and the distribution of questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed descriptively to determine the level of compliance of B3 waste management practices with OHS standards. The results indicate that the B3 waste segregation process was largely carried out in accordance with established procedures. However, deficiencies were identified during the waste storage stage; for instance, storage facilities did not fully meet safety standards. Furthermore, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by staff was suboptimal, as some employees did not wear complete PPE while working. Supervision of B3 waste management also requires improvement to ensure better adherence to procedures. Insufficient staff training was identified as a factor influencing the implementation of B3 waste management and its impact on OHS at the hospital. In conclusion, B3 waste management at Nurul Hasanah Hospital does not yet fully meet OHS standards. Therefore, improvements are needed in supervision, staff training, the provision of compliant waste storage facilities, and compliance with PPE usage to create a safe and healthy work environment free from the risks of workplace accidents and environmental pollution. | 1 |
