| Abstract | The Relationship Between Workload, Shift Work, Sleep Quality, and Psychological Stress and Hypertension Among Healthcare Workers at Sembiring Deli Tua General Hospital in 2025. Master's Thesis, Master's Program in Public Health, Occupational Safety and Health Specialization, Faculty of Public Health, Deli Husada Deli Tua Institute of Health Sciences. (Supervised by: Dr. Selamat Ginting, S.Kep,.M.Kep,.Ns). Hypertension is one of the most common health problems experienced by healthcare workers due to various occupational demands that may affect both their physical and psychological conditions. High workload, shift work systems, poor sleep quality, and psychological stress are frequently considered factors that may increase the risk of hypertension. However, empirical evidence regarding the relationship between these factors and hypertension among healthcare workers remains inconsistent. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between workload, shift work, sleep quality, and psychological stress and hypertension among healthcare workers at Sembiring Deli Tua General Hospital in 2025. This study employed a descriptive analytical design with a case-control approach. The study population consisted of 234 healthcare workers, while the sample included 70 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and blood pressure measurements, and were analyzed using the Chi-Square test for bivariate analysis and logistic regression for multivariate analysis. The results showed that workload was not significantly associated with hypertension among healthcare workers (p = 0.472). Shift work also showed no significant association with the incidence of hypertension (p = 0.716). Psychological stress levels were not significantly associated with hypertension (p = 0.541). Likewise, sleep quality was not significantly associated with hypertension (p = 0.119), although respondents with poor sleep quality had a higher proportion of hypertension. Multivariate analysis indicated that none of the independent variables were significantly associated with hypertension (model p = 0.369), with a Pseudo R² value of 0.044. Nevertheless, poor sleep quality demonstrated a greater tendency to increase the risk of hypertension compared with the other variables, although this association was not statistically significant. This study concludes that workload, shift work, sleep quality, and psychological stress were not significantly associated with hypertension among healthcare workers at Sembiring Deli Tua General Hospital in 2025. Therefore, future studies are recommended to consider other factors, such as age, family history, dietary patterns, physical activity, and lifestyle, which may have a greater influence on the occurrence of hypertension among healthcare workers.
