| Abstract | Evaluation of Antibiotic Adherence and Drug Related Problems in Urinary Tract Infection Inpatients at RSU Sembiring ABSTRACT Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the most common infectious diseases and contributes to increasing antibiotic resistance due to irrational use. This study aimed to analyze respondent characteristics, examine the relationship between antibiotic adherence level based on the Morisky Medication Adherenced Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire and the occurrence of Drug Related Problems (DRPs), and identify the pattern of DRPs in antibiotic use among UTI inpatients at RSU Sembiring.This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design involving 35 UTI patients selected through purposive sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (68%), aged 26–45 years (37.1%), had a senior high school education (42%), and worked as housewives (22.9%). Antibiotic adherence was high in 15 patients (42.9%), moderate in 8 patients (22.9%), and low in 12 patients (34.3%). Seventeen patients (48.6%) experienced DRPs, while 18 patients (51.4%) did not. The Chi-Square test showed significant associations between age (p=0.009), education (p=0.049), and occupation (p=0.019) with adherence level, while gender showed no significant association (p=0.861). A significant association was also found between the occurrence of DRPs and antibiotic adherence level (p=0.044).This study concluded that the incidence of DRPs remains relatively high, indicating the need for continuous drug therapy monitoring and antibiotic use evaluation to improve therapeutic outcomes in UTI patients.
