| Abstract | Acne is a skin disorder commonly caused by the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes. Gedi leaves (Abelmoschus manihot L.) contain secondary metabolites with antibacterial potential. This study aimed to formulate ethanol extract of gedi leaves into an acne patch and evaluate its antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. The study was conducted experimentally through extraction, phytochemical screening, formulation of acne patches containing 2%, 2.5%, and 3% extract, physical evaluation, and antibacterial activity testing. The results showed that the ethanol extract contained flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and quinones and was successfully formulated into an acne patch that met the physical quality requirements. The 3% extract formulation showed the highest antibacterial activity with an inhibition zone diameter of 17.73 ± 0.15 mm. It can be concluded that the ethanol extract acne patch of gedi leaves has antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. This study support to evaluate the physical stability of the patch under various storage conditions and to investigate its antibacterial efficacy using different bacterial concentrations to provide a more comprehensive assessment of its therapeutic potential.
