| Abstract | Eye fatigue (asthenopia) is one of the most common visual disorders experienced by workers whose jobs require high visual concentration, such as tailors. Factors that may be associated with eye fatigue include age, working hours and the level of workplace lighting. This study is aimed to determine the relationship between age, working hours and lighting level with eye fatigue (asthenopia) among tailors at Deli Tua Timur Village, Deli Tua District, Deli Serdang Regency, in 2026. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 30 tailors and the sampling technique used total sampling, in which all members of the population were included as research respondents. Data were collected by using the Visual Fatigue Index (VFI) questionnaire to assess eye fatigue and a lux meter to measure lighting intensity. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with Chi-Square or Fisher's Exact Test at 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed significant relationship between age and eye fatigue (asthenopia) (p-value = 0.001), a significant relationship between working hours and eye fatigue (asthenopia) (p-value = 0.001) and significant relationship between lighting level and eye fatigue (asthenopia) (p-value = 0.000). It can be concluded that age, working hours and lighting level are significantly associated with the occurrence of eye fatigue (asthenopia) among tailors at Deli Tua Timur Village, Deli Tua District, Deli Serdang Regency. Therefore, tailors are encouraged to manage their working hours, take regular eye breaks and ensure adequate workplace lighting to reduce the risk of eye fatigue. | 1 |
