| Abstract | Occupational health and safety are important aspects of the workplace, particularly in informal sectors such as the traditional weaving industry. One of the most commonly reported occupational health complaints is Low Back Pain (LBP), which is closely related to non-ergonomic work posture. Weaving workers at Galeri Ulos Sianipar generally work in a bent-over sitting position on the floor for 7-9 hours per day with inadequate work facilities, placing them at high risk of LBP complaints. This study aimed to determine the relationship between work posture and Low Back Pain complaints among weaving workers at Galeri Ulos Sianipar, Medan Denai Subdistrict, Medan City, in 2026. This was a quantitative study using a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 90 weaving workers, with a sample of 48 workers determined using the Slovin formula. Work posture was assessed using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method, while LBP complaints were measured using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most workers had a high-risk work posture, or RULA Level 3 (58.3%), and the majority experienced LBP complaints in the high category (33.3%). The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.004 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between work posture and Low Back Pain complaints among weaving workers. It was concluded that the higher the risk level of a weaver's work posture, the higher the level of LBP complaints experienced. The gallery is advised to improve the ergonomics of weaving tools and work processes and to implement work rotation schedules and rest breaks to reduce the risk of LBP. | 1 |
