| Abstract | This study aimed to analyze the challenges and solutions in the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) at the Medical Records Unit of Advent Hospital Medan. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The research informants consisted of the Head of the Medical Records Unit, medical records officers, and Information Technology (IT) staff, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Source, technique, and time triangulation were applied to ensure the validity of the data.The results showed that the implementation of EMR at Advent Hospital Medan has been carried out effectively; however, several challenges remain, including system downtime, limited server capacity causing slow system access, inadequate system integration, and users' adaptation to the transition from a manual to an electronic system. From the human resources perspective, differences in users' abilities to operate the system were still identified, indicating the need for continuous training and user assistance. From the organizational perspective, management support has been adequate through the provision of facilities, regular evaluations, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), although further improvements are still required. The solutions implemented include upgrading server and network capacity, enhancing system development, conducting regular training programs, providing user assistance, and strengthening coordination among the Medical Records Unit, hospital management, and IT staff.This study concludes that the successful implementation of EMR requires adequate technological infrastructure, competent human resources, and strong organizational commitment to ensure that healthcare services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and with high quality. | 1 |
