| Abstract | Premature skin aging can be accelerated by free radicals, which cause oxidative stress and skin cell damage. Kenop leaf (Gomphrena globosa L.) contains secondary metabolites with antioxidant potential and can be developed as active ingredients in anti-aging creams. This study aimed to determine the secondary metabolite content and antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of kenop leaves and to formulate it in an anti-aging cream preparation. This study was an experimental study that includes the preparation and characterization of simplicia, phytochemical screening, extraction by maceration method using 96% ethanol, cream formulation with extract concentrations of 1.5%, 2%, and 2.5%, physical evaluation of the preparation, and testing of antioxidant activity using the 2,2-Diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method based on IC₅₀ values. The results showed that the ethanol extract of kenop leaves contains flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids, and steroids. The IC₅₀ value of the extract was 86.74 µg/mL and is included in the strong antioxidant category. The conclusion show that all formulas met the physical evaluation requirements. The IC₅₀ values of F1, F2, and F3 were 91.53; 91.42; and 87.42 µg/mL, respectively, with F3 showing the best antioxidant activity. The ethanol extract of kenop leaves has the potential to be formulated as an anti-aging cream with strong antioxidant activity. The suggestion from this study show that further research is recommended to conduct long-term stability tests and in vivo anti-aging activity testing. | 1 |
