| Abstract | Curry leaves (Murraya koenigii L.) contain bioactive compounds, including alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins, flavonoids and tannins, which exhibit antibacterial activity against acne-causing bacteria. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of an acne patch containing ethanolic extract of curry leaves (Murraya koenigii L.) against Propionibacterium acnes at concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15%. This research employed an experimental method by evaluating the physical characteristics and stability parameters of the acne patch formulation. The physical evaluation included organoleptic examination, pH measurement, weight uniformity test, folding endurance test and thickness test. Stability evaluation consisted of organoleptic observation and pH measurement. The results demonstrated that the physical evaluation and stability tests of the acne patch formulations containing 5%, 10% and 15% ethanolic extract of curry leaves met the established quality requirements. The antibacterial activity test showed that the acne patch formulations inhibited the growth of Propionibacterium acnes at concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15%, with mean inhibition zone diameters of 12,75 mm, 13,72 mm and 16,25 mm, respectively, which were classified as having strong antibacterial activity. | 1 |
