| Abstract | Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disease requiring evaluation of drug use rationality to ensure therapeutic efficacy, prevent complications, and guarantee patient safety. This study aims to evaluate the rationality of oral antidiabetic drug use based on the criteria of Right Indication, Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Dose and Right Administration Method among T2DM inpatients at RSUD Kotapinang in 2025. This was a quantitative descriptive study with a retrospective approach using secondary data from patient medical records between January and June 2025. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling combined with monthly stratified random sampling, obtaining a sample of 181 medical records from a total population of 332 patients (calculated using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Patient characteristics were dominated by the age group ≥56 years (38%), female gender (72%), housewives (30%), and high school graduates (36%). The prescribing pattern was predominantly monotherapy (86%), with Sulfonylureas (Gliquidone 31% and Gliclazide 24%) and Biguanides (Metformin 24%) being the most frequently prescribed classes. Evaluation of rationality showed Right Indication (100%), Right Patient (100%), Right Drug (100%) and Right Dose (100%). Irrationality was only found in the Right Administration Method indicator at 3.31% (6 cases) due to incorrect timing of Sulfonylurea administration (instructed after meals). Overall, the rationality rate of oral antidiabetic drug use reached 96.69% (almost entirely rational). The use of oral antidiabetic drugs in T2DM inpatients at RSUD Kotapinang in 2025 is categorized as highly rational (96.69%), although interprofessional accuracy regarding administration timing still needs improvement. | 1 |
