| Abstract | Dandruff is a common scalp disorder associated with the growth of Malassezia furfur. Kapok Tree leaves (Ceiba pentandra (L.)) and soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) contain secondary metabolites with potential antifungal properties. This study aimed to formulate a hair tonic containing a combination of 70% ethanol extracts of kapok and soursop leaves and to evaluate its physical characteristics and antifungal activity against M. furfur. The extracts were formulated at concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 25%. Physical evaluations included organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, and viscosity. Antifungal activity was tested using the well-diffusion method and it was analyzed using One-Way ANOVA followed by Tukey's HSD test. All formulations met the physical evaluation requirements. The 25% formulation showed the highest antifungal activity, with an inhibition zone of 17.13 ± 0.25 mm, comparable to that of the positive control, which showed an inhibition zone of 17.35 ± 0.23 mm. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference among the treatments (p < 0.05), whereas the 25% formulation did not differ significantly from the positive control (p > 0.05). Thus, the combination of kapok and soursop leaf extracts has the potential to be developed as a natural anti-dandruff hair tonic | 1 |
