| Abstract | Acne vulgaris is a common inflammatory skin disorder associated with the proliferation of Cutibacterium acnes. Continuous use of synthetic antibacterial agents may cause skin irritation and bacterial resistance, encouraging the exploration of natural alternatives. Mango leaves (Mangifera indica L. var. arumanis) contain various bioactive compounds with potential antibacterial activity. This study is aimed to formulate and evaluate a moisturizer gel containing ethanol extract of mango leaves and to determine its antibacterial activity against Cutibacterium acnes. This experimental study involved the preparation of simplicia, phytochemical screening, extraction by maceration using 96% ethanol, formulation of moisturizer gel containing ethanol extract of mango leaves at concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%, and evaluation of physical characteristics. The antibacterial activity was assessed using the disc diffusion method against Cutibacterium acnes. In addition, irritation and volunteer tests were conducted to evaluate product safety and performance. This study resulted that phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and saponins. The extraction process produced a yield of 18.32%. Moisturizing gels will only be used on respondents after completing an initial physical quality evaluation, including organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, viscosity, and initial stability. Preparations exhibiting discoloration, odor, phase separation, contamination, or a pH that is incompatible with the skin will not be used on respondents. In conclusion, ethanol extract of mango leaves can be successfully formulated into a stable moisturizer gel with antibacterial activity against Cutibacterium acnes and has potential as a natural anti-acne skincare product.
