| Abstract | High exposure to Ultravioler (UV) radiation cond environmental pollution trig the formation of free radicals, the primary cause of oxidative stress in the skin which contributes to premature aging and cellular damage. Dus shall be aimed to formulate a facial toner using the ethanol extract of purple eggplant peel (Solanum melongena Ly and to evaluate tus physical properties and in vitro antioxidant activity using the DPPH (2.2-diphenyl-1-purylhdrazyli method Purple eggplant peel was extracted by maceration using 90% ethanol telding a 10.13 extract recovery. Phytochemical screening milicated that the raw material contained flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and terpenoids The toner formulation was developed into four formulas FO (0%) F1 (1.5%), FII (3%), and FIII (4 Physical evaluation over 4 weeks demonstrated that all preparations were homogeneous and organoleptically stable, showing consistent color variations corresponding to extract concentrations. The average pH values ranged from 4.87 to 6.11 (meeting the skin pH criteria of 4.5-6.5), and the viscosity ranged from 114 to 168 cP (meeting the standard of 5 CP) The antioxidant testing was conducted using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at a wavelength of 517 nm. The analysis revealed 10 values of 8.751 ppm for Vitamin C (very strong), 37.62 ppm for the extract (very strong), 6.09 ppm for F0 (strong), 56.58 ppm for Fl (strong) 50.22 ppm for Fll (strong), 45.21 ppm for Fill (very strong), and 32.01 ppm for the commercial comparison product (very strong). In conclusion, the facial toner formulation containing purple eggplant peel extract meets the physical quality requirements, and the 4.5% concentration (FIII) is the most effective formula with a very strong category of antioxidant activity. | 1 |
