| Abstract | Cucumber fruit (Cucumis sativus L.) contains bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, phenolics, vitamin C, and other antioxidant compounds that have the potential to be used as active ingredients in shampoo preparations. This study is aimed to formulate and evaluate shampoo preparations containing ethanol extract of cucumber fruit and test their antioxidant activity using the DPPH method. The research was conducted experimentally through the preparation of extracts using the maceration method, shampoo formulations with extract concentrations of 2.5%, 3%, and 3.5%, physical quality evaluations including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and foam height, and determination of antioxidant activity based on IC₅₀ values using the DPPH method. The results showed that all formulas met the physical quality requirements, had a semi-solid, homogeneous form, pH according to standards, viscosity that met the requirements and good foam height. The IC₅₀ values of Formula I, Formula II, and Formula III were 152 ppm, 127.50 ppm, and 98.31 ppm, respectively, so Formula I was classified as a weak antioxidant, Formula II as a medium antioxidant and Formula III as a strong antioxidant. Formula III was the best formula, although its antioxidant activity was still lower than commercial shampoos (IC₅₀ 66.06 ppm) and vitamin C (IC₅₀ 5.21 ppm). Thus, cucumber fruit ethanol extract has the potential to be used as a natural active ingredient in shampoo formulations that meet physical quality requirements and possess antioxidant activity.
