Abstract The Relationship between the Rational Use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (ATDs) and the Presence of Comorbidities with Clinical Improvement among Hospitalized Tuberculosis Patients at Rantau Prapat Regional General Hospital ABSTRACT Saragih, Dian Cahya Putri. The Relationship between the Rational Use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (ATDs) and the Presence of Comorbidities with Clinical Improvement among Hospitalized Tuberculosis Patients at Rantau Prapat Regional General Hospital, in 2026. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Pharmacy, Institut Kesehatan Deli Husada Deli Tua. Supervised by apt. Evi Depiana Gultom, S.Farm., M.Si. Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that requires long-term treatment with Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (ATDs). The success of TB therapy is influenced by the rational use of ATDs and the presence of comorbidities. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the rational use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs and the presence of comorbidities with the clinical improvement of hospitalized tuberculosis patients at Rantau Prapat Regional General Hospital. This study employed a quantitative design using an observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. The study included 130 patients selected through a total sampling technique based on medical records from July to December 2025. The results of the Mann–Whitney U test showed a p-value of 0.773 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no statistically significant association between age and the clinical improvement of patients with tuberculosis (TB). The results of Pearson Chi-Square showed a p-value of 0.382 (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no statistically significant association between sex and the clinical improvement of hospitalized TB patients at Rantau Prapat Regional General Hospital (RSUD Rantau Prapat). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed a significant relationship between the rational use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs and patients' clinical improvement (p = 0.017), as well as a significant relationship between the presence of comorbidities and patients' clinical improvement (p = 0.001). It can be concluded that both the rational use of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs and the presence of comorbidities are significantly associated with the clinical improvement of hospitalized tuberculosis patients. Based on these findings, hospitals and healthcare professionals are encouraged to improve the appropriateness of Anti-Tuberculosis Drug use and strengthen therapeutic monitoring, particularly for patients with comorbidities. Future researchers are recommended to employ prospective study designs and include a broader range of variables that may influence clinical outcomes.
