| Abstract | ABSTRACT Noise is one of the major physical hazards in the workplace and may cause hearing impairment when workers are exposed for prolonged periods. Continuous exposure to excessive noise can reduce hearing function, resulting in subjective complaints such as tinnitus, difficulty understanding conversations, and decreased hearing ability. This study aimed to determine the relationship between noise exposure duration and subjective hearing complaints among workers at PTPN IV Regional II Pagar Merbau Palm Oil Mill in 2026. This study employed a quantitative analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 170 production workers, and 119 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data on noise exposure duration were collected using a structured questionnaire, while subjective hearing complaints were assessed using the Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly–Screening (HHIE-S). Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test with a 95% confidence level. The results revealed a significant relationship between noise exposure duration and subjective hearing complaints, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a Spearman correlation coefficient (r) of 0.596, indicating a moderate positive correlation. The longer the workers were exposed to occupational noise, the higher their subjective hearing complaint scores. It is recommended that the company strengthen workplace noise control measures, ensure consistent use of hearing protection devices, and conduct regular hearing health assessments to prevent occupational noise-induced hearing problems. | 1 |
